I’m a little intimidated about going to a high-end spa – how can I feel more comfortable?
At the Ocean Palm Spa we value every guest whether you’ve been pampering yourself for years or this is your first time. We understand you have questions and want to help you with any concerns. It’s important to us that you feel relaxed and at ease. Please tell your therapist if there’s anything that makes you feel uncomfortable and we’ll be happy to accommodate you.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Dress comfortably. The spa will provide you with a locker and a lock for your clothing and other belongings, as well as a robe and slippers to wear between treatments. Ocean Palm Spa is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. We recommend that jewelry and other valuables be left at home for added security. We do provide pedicure guests with spa slippers but you might want to bring a pair of flip flops to wear home.
How do I prepare for my body treatment?
Shaving prior to a scrub treatment can result in irritation and is not recommended. For gentlemen however, it is recommended that if you choose to shave before your facial, please do so at least two hours prior to your appointment to avoid discomfort.
Do I have to remove all my clothes for a full body treatment?
Body treatments are usually carried out without clothing, however, you may wear underwear or a swimsuit if you are more comfortable. *At all times during the body treatment private parts of the body are securely draped. Our Spa professionals are exceptionally well trained to insure your comfort
Can I bring my child with me for a treatment?
Ocean Palm Spa is a wellness and balance facility focusing on persons over the age of 16. Parental consent is required for persons under the age of 16. We ask that children not be brought into the spa unless they have a scheduled appointment.
I do have some health issues. Does that mean I can’t have a treatment?
Our Spa Reception staff will ask you questions when booking to help you avoid treatments that are contraindicated for high blood pressure, heart disease, allergies, diabetes or any other physical ailments or disabilities as well as pregnancy. Feel free to inform us if you have any concerns or at any time during your services you experience discomfort.
I’m pregnant – what treatments can I safely enjoy?
You are limited in the treatments that you can try. Manicures and pedicures are perfectly safe. We do offer a maternity massage after the first trimester. And our camomile scrub is relaxing and soothing without causing any harm. Make sure you mention you are pregnant when you call to book your appointment so we can advise you personally.
I have Rosacea – will a facial irritate my condition?
No, in fact many treatments have an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on your skin. Please mention your Rosacea when booking your appointment so we can advise which facial would be best for you.
Can I apply makeup after my facial?
We advise you to wait several hours before applying conventional makeup. However the mineral-based Jane Iredale line can be applied immediately because the minerals act as sunscreen.
My husband I want to book appointments together – can we do that?
Yes we have a Japanese Soaker Tub for two and we have a specially appointed couples room with fireplace in Sidney. In Sooke you can enjoy our couples massge room with steam shower.
Can I book a big party?
Yes, the spa is equipped with a pedicure area that can accommodate four people at a time. The spa is available for parties both during regular hours and for special evening events. Please see our special events page for more information.
Do you have parking?
Parking is easily available at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort in Sooke and at the Sidney Waterfront Inn in Sidney. Please advise spa reception in Sidney you have parked in the Inn parking lot if your treatment is expected to take more than two hours.
